Hikurangi Sewer Rehabilitation

The client needed to upgrade and renew the existing wastewater system in Hikurangi.

Project Scope:

+ The project involved source detection, cleaning, and CCTV inspection of 6200m sewer pipes ranging from 150-300mm.

+ The rehabilitation by CIPP lining of 1,800m of 150-225mm diameter sewer the reinstatement of 175 lateral connections by robotic cutters including sealing of the connections by lateral junction repairs and the rehabilitation of 49 manholes with a cementitious corrosion resistance product.

+ Replacement by open cut excavation of approx. 1,000 m of 150-225mm diameter sewer pipes including the installation of 10 new manholes ranging in depth between 1.5-2.8m.

+ The construction of a sewer pipe bridge over a creek.

Project Outcome:

+ Safety and quality audits carried out by the client were all compliant.

+ All construction work was completed to the required specifications. Samples from the CIPP installation were taken for testing. The mechanical properties of the samples exceed the standard results for strength and flexure modules.

+ Our safety, environmental performance, work quality, and public and client communications exceeded the performance targets through the implementation of our procedures and control measures.

+ NZ Lining achieved a score of 88% as evaluated by the client on the “Performance Evaluation of Capital Contractors”, evaluated by the client. This score puts our performance on all aspects of the project in the Superlative category.
